The start of a new quarter century
So I turned 25 this past Monday, and it was quite uneventful. Not to say that the weekend wasn't, but lets not call those events desired. Yet in all honesty, the past year has been the worst of my life. Few, if anyone, truly knows every little detail of all that happened in the past year. Well, it sucked. Like I said, the worst year of my life. But as someone told me just the other day, you gotta just roll with the punches. [That same person then went on with half a dozen other little phrases and quotes, which I really appreciated :-)]
When I was a sophomore in college, I ran for an office in student government. The party I was running with was the dominant party for the past 6 or 7 years on campus, and it was thought that we were a lock for victory. Well, we lost, and lost bad. I too lost, garnering only 666 votes (oh yeah). The SGA VP (a member of our party, but not up for election at that time) came to a few of us who were standing in the union that night after hearing the votes, and gave us a few words of advice. And those words have stuck with me since. "We may have fallen today, but we have fallen on our backs...and we are looking up."
Yes, this past year was the worst of my life, but its over and I'm still around. I have great friends around me and people I know who love me. I'm still around, and I'm not done fighting. I've only been around for 25 years. I plan on going on for another 50 years, so I'll just take some notes and learn from these trials. I've got a long ways to go and I don't have enough time to sit around and worry about the past.
